With only three Australia Post street post boxes servicing Baldivis homes, the proposed removal of one of them does not make sense to local residents or to Federal Member of Parliament, Madeleine King.
Ms King said Australia Post wrote to her advising of the intended removal of the post box at 7 Osgood Way in Baldivis, a decision that would impact on the wider community.
“It can be difficult to have services reinstated once they have been removed and Baldivis is a growing area,” Ms King said.
“Baldivis is a fast-growing suburb and the community in the vicinity of this box is a busy one with young and older families, retirement facilities and many small businesses who will all miss out if this post box is removed.”
Ms King wrote to local residents advising them of Australia Post’s plans to remove the post box and she has received many calls from people unhappy about the move.
“If anything, Australia Post should be looking at installing additional services in growing suburbs, and not taking away what little is currently there,” Ms King said.
Ms King has written to Australia Post asking that the plan to remove the post box be reconsidered for the long-term benefit of this growing community.
