Through a strong partnership with the City of Rockingham and City of Kwinana, the funding is driving improvements to the safety of local road networks, supporting local jobs, and unlocking new social and economic opportunities.
A total of 42 road projects have been completed through the Roads to Recovery (RTR) program, which has delivered essential upgrades to improve road conditions and ensure safer travel for local residents.
An additional $11.4 million in RTR funding will also flow to the Rockingham and Kwinana over the next five years – a boost of $4.9 million thanks to the Albanese Government.
This will pave the way for future priority projects and adds to existing works underway, which include:
- Harlow Road, Calista - Between Calista Avenue and Gilmore Avenue.
- Battersby Road, Wandi - From the intersection of Anketell Road for a distance of 940m.
- Read Street/Malibu Road Intersection, Safety Bay
- Patterson Road and Wanliss Street Roundabout, Rockingham
- Office Road, Rockingham
- Mundijong Road, Baldivis
Through the Road Black Spot Program, City of Rockingham is also receiving $2.8 million for improving the safety of the local road network.
Dangerous roads such as The Avenue in Warnbro will receive much needed upgrades.
Through Phase 4 of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program, both councils are also receiving $2.9 million for local priority projects.
This includes an expansion of the CCTV Network at Palm Beach Jetty and construction of the Safety Bay Pump Track.
Nationally, the Albanese Government is delivering significant funding increases to support local councils progress their priority projects.
The RTR program is progressively increasing from $500 million to $1 billion per year, the Road Black Spot Program is increasing to $150 million per year, and $50 million has been added to the new $200 million per year Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program.
