Member for Brand Madeleine King today opened the new Multipurpose Sports Centre at South Coast Baptist College in Waikiki which will improve local student educational outcomes.
Minister King said work on the development project was delivered with support of Australian Government funding of $950,000 through the Capital Grants Program.
“A lot of work has gone into this project which has delivered multipurpose sports areas, storages areas and outdoor playing courts and the refurbishment of a workshop to create a general learning area,” Minister King said.
“These new facilities will provide school staff, teachers and students at South Coast Baptist College with better, more modern spaces in which to work, teach and learn.
“The Australian Government is committed to providing all schools with appropriate funding so that all students get the best possible education.”
Minister King said the new facilities would benefit the students currently at South Coast Baptist College as well as the many students who will follow in future years.
“The teachers, staff and students at South Coast Baptist College have built a strong and positive school community and these new facilities will further enhance our local educational opportunities,” Minister King said.
“Our Government strongly believes in providing the best possible resources so that local students can realise their potential and develop the skills they need to go on to further study or to find a job.”
