Staff and students at Peter Carnley Anglican Community School in Wellard are set to benefit from the construction of new classrooms and learning spaces which will enhance learning and improve student educational outcomes.

The new facilities include specialist music and art rooms, tutorial rooms, a multipurpose space, food technology laboratories, seminar rooms, a preparation kitchen, a textile studio, and the refurbishment of existing classrooms to create an arts and technologies precinct.

Member for Brand Madeleine King said work on the project will be delivered with support of Australian Government funding of $1,500,000 through the Capital Grants Program.

“These new facilities will provide school staff, teachers and students at Peter Carnley Anglican Community School with better, more modern spaces in which to work, teach and learn,” Minister King said.

“The Australian Government is committed to providing all schools with appropriate funding so that all students, including those at Peter Carnley Anglican Community School, get the best possible education.”

Minister King said the new facilities will benefit the students currently at Peter Carnley Anglican Community School, as well as the many students who will follow in future years.

“The teachers, staff and students at Peter Carnley Anglican Community School have built a strong and positive school community and these new facilities will further enhance our local educational opportunities,” Minister King said.

“Our Government strongly believes in providing the best possible resources so that local students can realise their potential and develop the skills they need to go on to further study or to find a job.

Peter Carnley Anglican Community School Principal, Ms Felicity House, expressed her gratitude for the funding and said the $1.5 million capital projects grant will have a transformative impact on the school.

“This investment in our school will benefit generations of students to come. These new learning spaces will inspire creativity and collaboration in our students and prepare them for the challenges and opportunities of the future.” Ms House said.

“The Anglican Schools Commission is incredibly thankful for the Australian Government's support through the Capital Grants Program, which has made this wonderful vision a reality.”

“I congratulate Peter Carnley Anglican Community School on their successful grant application and look forward to seeing the positive impact these new facilities will have on the school community.”
