The health effects of COVID-19 will be explained by a world-leading expert during a community lecture in Rockingham this month.

Professor Jeremy Nicholson, of Murdoch University, will deliver the inaugural speech as part of the Brand Community Lecture Series (BCLS), at 6pm on Tuesday, September 29.

Presented by the Federal Member for Brand, Madeleine King, in partnership with Murdoch University, the BCLS will feature leading experts discussing a range of topics of interest to the community in Brand.

Professor Nicholson is an internationally renowned scientist who leads the Australian National Phenome Centre.  He is also Pro Vice Chancellor for the Health Future Institute at Murdoch.

Professor Nicholson, a pioneer in metabolic phenotyping and systems medicine, is a highly cited scholar who has published more than 600 peer-reviewed papers.

His lecture will be entitled: "Understanding the immediate and long-term medical effects of COVID-19".

Ms King said she was thrilled Professor Nicholson had agreed to deliver the inaugural lecture.

“Scientists are just beginning to understand some of the longer-term health impacts of COVID-19,” she said.

“This will be a lively and highly topical lecture to launch the Brand Community Lecture Series.”

The event will be held at Murdoch’s Rockingham campus. It will be free, but tickets are essential.
