More than 250 local seniors joined Madeleine King MP on Tuesday for a robust and informative discussion at a forum that also heard from the Shadow Human Services Minister Linda Burney MP and Centrelink.
Ms King said she was very happy to host the event which included a presentation about ways seniors could engage with Centrelink.
“There was a fantastic turnout today and I am very happy so many seniors could come along to this forum,” Ms King said.
“People had an opportunity to raise issues that are of concern to them as well as hear directly from Ms Burney and Centrelink.”
Ms Burney spoke about how long waiting times were a cause of frustration for many pensioners and the agency was understaffed and under-resourced because of Government cuts.
