The Albanese Government is ensuring a future made in Australia – with a big funding boost for clean energy and emissions reduction projects at heavy industrial sites around the country.

Federal Member for Brand and Minister for Resources and Northern Australia, Madeleine King visited CSBP’s ammonium nitrate production facility in Kwinana today to announce $32.9 million to upgrade their emissions reduction capacity.

The project aims to reduce nitrous oxide emissions from two of CSBP’s three Nitric Acid Ammonium Nitrate plants by installing tertiary catalysts to capture tail gas emissions.

It is estimated that emissions reduction from the project will amount to 64,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent every year.

Our Powering the Regions Fund is delivering $330 million to ensure Australian industry is not just surviving but thriving, as demand for low emissions products grows around the world.

Ms King said the funding showed how the Albanese Government was continuing to support business in reducing emissions.

“A future made in Australia will see our industry rely more and more on clean energy, with the support of traditional fuels like gas,” Minister King said.

“By supporting important projects in Kwinana, the Albanese Government is helping to reduce carbon emissions, while also creating highly skilled local jobs.

“The road to net zero runs through Australia’s resources sector. The road to a future made in Australia will be built by our resources sector.”
