UNIVERSITY UNCERTAINTY MUST END

18 December 2017

Malcolm Turnbull has failed to get the Senate’s support to push through his unfair university cuts and higher fees, so he should drop them now, for good, says local Member of Federal Parliament, Madeleine King.

“Year 12 students are trying to make decisions about what to study at uni in 2018. But thanks to the mess created by Mr Turnbull, they have no idea how much their degrees will cost, or how much debt they will be saddled with,” Ms King said.

 “This uncertainty must end immediately.”

Ms King said by cutting funding to universities, Malcolm Turnbull was committing local students to higher uni fees and more debt – all for a poorer quality education.

“Malcolm Turnbull’s Liberal Government says its cuts are about finding Budget savings,” Ms King said.

“I say instead of pushing young people into debt and limiting their choices, the Government should drop its $65 billion tax cut for big business.”

“The Liberals want to rob students and unis to pay big business and millionaires.”

“Their priorities are all wrong.”
