As Year 12 students around the state enter their second week of ATAR exams, Federal Member of Brand, Madeleine King, is attending as many school graduation ceremonies as her busy schedule allows.

On Friday 2 November she kicked-off ‘graduation season’ at the Rockingham Senior High School Education Support Centre Annual Awards ceremony, where she presented the Positive Image Award. Over the next month her diary is packed with school graduation ceremonies

“It’s always such a privilege to be invited to graduation ceremonies,” Ms King said.

“They are a time to pause, reflect and celebrate the achievements of the students in our community and recognise the parents and teachers who provide constant support for the kids in their care.”

Ms King says public schools in the Brand electorate, including schools in Rockingham, Kwinana and Baldivis, will be $37.48 million better off under a Labor Government.

“Labor has committed an extra $14 billion for public schools and I’m excited to say schools in Brand will be getting their fair share of the pie.”

Last week, Labor released a new website – – giving each school an estimate of the extra funding it can expect under Labor’s plan.

“For example under Labor, my old school Safety Bay Primary School will receive $0.97 million extra funding, Gilmore College will get $2.06 million extra and Baldivis Secondary College will receive a whopping $3.1 million extra funding,” Ms King said.

“The website is a great resource for parents and teachers to find out how much extra funding their local public school will get.”

“This extra investment will transform our public schools and give all children the opportunity to reach their full potential, no matter where they live, or how much their parents earn.”
