More than $1 billion worth of shovel ready infrastructure projects are on hold in WA awaiting Federal Government action.

Yesterday’s labour force figures reveal that WA’s unemployment rate remains significantly higher than the rest of the country, but it doesn’t have to be that way, with more than 6,000 jobs on ice due to Government inaction.

Labor has been crying out for the Government to bring forward infrastructure spending for months, yet today’s revelations in The West Australian reveal even projects that have been funded can’t get under way.

Economic growth is the slowest since the Global Financial Crisis, wages are stagnant and almost two million Australians are looking for work or more work.

This Government needs a genuine plan to get the economy moving again.

We’re calling on the Government to get the job done, so more Western Australians can get into work.
