Labor welcomes today’s announcement that the Government will deliver funding to local councils in Brand to spend on local roads and community infrastructure.

This is a long-overdue announcement that will support jobs and businesses at a time of terrible economic upheaval.

The Federal Local Roads and Community Infrastructure funding will allocate $534,720 to the City of Kwinana and $1,343,042 to the City of Rockingham.

This will provide much-needed improvements for local facilities, as well as local jobs for people in our area.

“It’s better late than never,” said Madeleine King, the Federal Labor Member for Brand.

“For too long those in our community have been neglected by successive governments because they don’t live in a marginal seat.

“So it’s about time that the people of Rockingham and Kwinana now get to see some of their taxpayers’ money re-directed into our community. This is a start, but more will be needed in future.”
