The Albanese Labor Government has provided an extra $6.8 million to fix local road blackspots and improve traffic flows around Rockingham and Kwinana.

The Albanese Labor Government has provided an extra $6.8 million to fix local road blackspots and improve traffic flows around Rockingham and Kwinana.

Roads targeted for upgrades and improvements include Rae Road, Mundijong Road, Patterson Road and the Read Street/Malibu Road intersection in Safety Bay.

On the Read Street and Malibu Road intersection in Safety Bay, $153,000 in federal funding will go towards realigning the road approaching the roundabout to slow traffic and improve safety of the hundreds of school kids that cross this busy road at the start and the end of the school day.

On Harlow Road in Calista, $200,000 in federal funding will pay for pram ramps to help young families get around safely.

Funds will also replace existing kerb and footpaths to make it safer for Calista Primary School students walking to and from school.

And on Mundijong Road, more than $830,000 is being committed to realign the road and install a crash barrier and install street lighting to help prevent accidents.

In all, 12 new projects are being funded around Brand as part of the Albanese Government’s Roads to Recovery program.

This extra funding means $15.8 million will flow towards road improvements across Rockingham and Kwinana over the next five years.

Member for Brand, Federal Resources Minister and Minister for Northern Australia Madeleine King, said the funding would shorten travel times and fix known blackspots. “

“Working with local councils, projects funded by the Albanese Government are improving the safety of local roads and supporting local jobs,” Minister King said.

“These road projects will help fix road networks used by local residents every day, making their journeys faster and safer.

“This is great news for the community of Brand and another example of how the Albanese Government is Building Australia’s Future.”
