MADELEINE KING PRESENTS STRONGER COMMUNITIES GRANT TO PEEL HORSEPOWER

20 November 2018

On Tuesday 20 November Madeleine King MP presented Peel HorsePower (previously Riding for the Disabled Association of Western Australia) with a Stronger Communities Grant cheque for $16,670.

Ms King said she was honoured to present the cheque to such a worthy organisation. “It is one of the highlights of my job to be able to support community organisations across Rockingham, Baldivis and Kwinana,” said Ms King.

The volunteer community-based organisation provides rehabilitative equine programs to around 70 clients each year and will use the grant funding to build four all important and urgently required universal access toilet facilities in their new clubrooms in Leda.

The Mead Farm Co-ordinator, Kristin Hosken, says the funding is crucial for the continuing operations of Peel HorsePower.

“It’s hard for people to get excited about grant funding for toilets, but the simple fact is support for these basic amenities will mean Peel HorsePower can keep running our programs,” said Ms Hosken.

“This funding means our clients will be able to keep reaping the physical benefits, sense of joy and achievement and the self-esteem boosts our equine programs provide.”

After thirty-five years sharing the Baldivis Equestrian and Pony Club grounds, Peel HorsePower is relocating to the historic Mead Farm settlement property over the summer.
