APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR NATIONAL INDIGENOUS YOUTH PARLIAMENT

24 February 2017

Applications are now open for young Indigenous leaders who would like to participate in the third National Indigenous Youth Parliament (NIYP) in Canberra.

The week-long leadership program will see 50 young people aged 16 to 25 engaged in training on law-making, public speaking and media engagement with Indigenous leaders, members of parliament and journalists involved in the learning process.

Local Member of Federal Parliament Madeleine King MP encouraged eligible young people to apply to be part of the NIYP in Canberra.

“This program is a fantastic learning experience which gives participants the opportunity to share their thoughts and views on issues of importance while being taught all manner of leadership skills,” Ms King said.

The closing date for the NIYP is 3 March 2017 with applications and further information available from www.aec.gov.au/Indigenous.
